Derrick Buffett was born and raised in South Florida, where he first discovered his love for cosmic horror, gritty noir, and violent action films. Originally pursuing a career in film, an idea struck him—one that would eventually take shape as his debut novel, The Drowning City.

At 29, Derrick moved to Philadelphia, a city that would become both his home and creative sanctuary. Balancing a full-time job by day, he spent his nights bringing Stormhaven to life, weaving rain-soaked streets, cosmic dread, and noir mystery into a story that lingers long after the final page.

Derrick currently lives in Philadelphia with his long-time partner and their two cats. He’s hard at work on his next books, continuing to explore the intersection of cosmic horror and other genres that will push the boundaries of horror, action, and suspense.
